Poetry and Question and we are THANKFUL!

Hi Guys! I THINK we are sort of back to normal.  Mom was not around much for 4 days this past week. She left the house early in the morning and did not come home until way past everyone's regular bed time. Cinnamon and us cats had our suppers really late on Friday and Monday (Alex works the late shift) and Mom did not get home until around 10 pm. We were not too happy.

I, Marv, layed on Mom while she had coffee before she left every morning and I held onto her leg (Yes, I used claws) and tried to keep her home, but it did not work. Then she had meetings yesterday and was gone almost all day and in the evening too. We were not amused. She tells us she has one more day, next week.

She was home today and I have laid on her even more than I used to in Richmond. Cinnamon is laying on her, Jo Jo is laying on her and so is Kozmo!

Poetry Thursday!

Yes! We are participating in Teddy's Angel Brother Sammy's Poetry Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats

If you would like to read more of the poems about this picture, click on Sammy's button and look in the comments for the people who are participating! Following is the inspirational image we wrote our poem about.

We went fishing to pass the day
It will be fun, or so they say.
Sitting on the  bank I wished
That I had never said I'd fished!
Where we are there is no 'net
I can't use my phone - I got it wet.
I wanna go home but Dad say No!
Gosh the time goes by so slow...

Merle Update and a Question

Merle avoiding Mom

We have a question to ask. It is for our feral buddy Merle who lives in our furrend Mary's shed. Some of you take care of feral cats. Our winters do get cold, sometimes for a few weeks we get really cold. We are wondering if any of you know of a solar powered heater or blanket that can be used to to keep the sleeping quarters warm. Currently we do have a couple of layers of insulation but would love to add a heat source. We are looking for something solar for safety reasons and that it is difficult to get power to Merle's preferred living location.

Thankful Thursday

Me, holding Mom down

I am thankful that things are (sort of) back to normal! I really missed Mom!

We are thankful for all the bloggers who host the hops! We are thankful for Ms Ann at Zoolatry who does the incredible graphics and badges and we are also thankful for our blogging furrends! Thanks for visiting us! And thank you for your comments! We Love you all! Now you can click on Brian's Thankful Thursday button to go to Thankful Central

Happy Canada Day Hosers! (and a Poem)

Yes! We live in the Great White North! We are  413.51 m (1,356.66 ft) from the USA.

Today, besides trying to keep cool, we are celebrating Canada's Birthday!

Our furrends know that we often refer to where we live as the "Great White North". And some have asked why. As it is Canada Day, we thought we would tell you where that comes from.

One of Mom's favorite TV shows in the late 70s was SCTV. One of our human brother's Dad's furrends was a producer for the show, so it was watched religiously.

"Ironically, the most popular sketch in the program's eight-year history was intended as throw-away filler. Bob and Doug McKenzie, the dim-witted, beer-chugging, and back bacon-eating brothers in a recurring Canadian-themed sketch called Great White North, were initially developed by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, respectively, as a sardonic response to the CBC network's request that the show feature two minutes of "identifiably Canadian content" in every episode. The two-minute length reflects the fact that American shows were two minutes shorter than Canadian ones (to allow more commercials), leaving two minutes needing content for the Canadian market. The Bob and Doug McKenzie segments first appeared in 1980 at the start of season three and continued in every episode until Thomas and Moranis left the series.

The characters ultimately became icons of the very Canadian culture they parodied, spinning off albums, a feature film (Strange Brew), commercials, and numerous TV and film cameos. Bob and Doug helped popularize the stereotypical Canadian trait of adding "eh" to the end of sentences, a facet of Canadian life often gently ridiculed in American shows featuring Canadian characters. Lines from the sketch, such as "Take off, you hoser!", became part of North American popular culture."
(from Wikipedia)

We welcome all of our furrends world wide to be "Hosers" like us today!

Almost all the 2 minute segments of "The Great White North" are on YouTube.

And this is this weeks inspirational image!

As I walk along the the street
A door swings open in the in the heat
I see the tables and the bottles
And my restraint, slowly topples
I open the door and am amazed!
As my eyes are slowly raised
I see the wall of bottles shine
On the shelves all made from pine
Every bottle tells a story
about a person's fall from glory
I look and see (as if I can)
That inside each there lies a man!
I turn and leave and walk away
Perhaps I'll be back another day.

Cinnamon is singing "Oh Canada" and thinking about playing in the SNOW!

Poems and Thankfulness

Much Sadness

We were stunned when we heard about Bear Cat

The sweet and amazing Bear Cat, from MommaKatandHerBearCat.com, sadly passed away on Sunday, May 9th, after an unexpected an sudden battle. Fifteen years ago Bear Cat rescued his Momma and worked his magic to improve her life on a daily basis. Now, there’s lots of sadness and Momma Kat and Sister Ellie need our love and support.

Please stop by with love, hugs and words of comfort here:

Marv's Doggerel on Poetry Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats

We LOVE Sammy's Poetry. He does such a great job and we love that he sends Teddy and Mom photos for next week along with his terrific poems. I am not really good at it but I do get inspired some times and this week, I Marv, was INSPIRED! Here is the photo he sent!

Here is my poem!

Dragon in the Clover!

Today will be fun, sister one did say,
As they travelled the trails to get to the hay.
They travelled the path in the old wagon,
The little boy hoped they’d soon see a dragon.
But all that they saw was corn in the field,
And a surly old man who would not yield,
I will show you another good game that I know!
Said sister two, all that I need is your shoe that is blue!
A tussle erupted and arguing began,
Sit down! And Be Quiet! Said the old man.
We will be at the field as soon as we can,
And if you are not quiet the dragon will eat you,
And your shoes that are blue, he will swallow you whole,
Without even a chew as we go over the knoll!
The children got quiet, and sat down proper,
And they soon saw the dragon-who was a whopper!
He smiled and laughed and then he giggled
His body it shook and his belly it jiggled.
The trip was fun and then it was over,
And the dragon he sat in his field of clover!

Thankful Thursday With the Gang

Last week we were thankful that Cinnamon received such a wonderful gift from Hailey and Zaphod  for getting the date right for the Last of the Snow contest and it got even better today! Mom and Cinnamon walked to the post office and there was a letter for Cinnamon and guess what was in it?
Back in March, Phod had lost his special tag and had a new one made by Island Engravers! And our letter was from them, and it was for Cinnamon! Here she is wearing it!

Can you see the big smile on her face?
And here is a close up of one side (the other has Cinnamon and our telephone number)

She wants to thank Hailey, Zaphod, their Mom and Dad for the wonderful gifts of a Chuckit Frisbee and the new collar tag! She (and Mom) are over the moon!

THis week we got some wonderful and warm weather. Mom had to go to Penticton on Monday (still more new car/accident stuff) and yesterday and today we were outside sleeping while Mom started planting the garden. We are thankful that Alex put the gazebo up on the deck so we can sleep in the shade!

And Jo Jo (from outside) Sleeping in the sun puddle on our bed

We are thankful for all the wonderful hops and the people and pets who run them and the Cat Blogosphere where we can link up Every Day and we  are especially thankful for you, our furrends who come and visit us (even when we are late because Mom has been too busy to help us).  Thank you Brian and family for sponsoring Thankful Thursday! Thankful Thursday and a Poem

First the Poetry!

This week we are doing Sammy (and Teddy)'s Poetry! When we first looked at this picture, it looks like a slightly older version of our kitchen.

The Kitchen

My kitchen is old and looks on the blink
I ought to just chuck the whole thing in the sink,
The oven is older and needs to be lit
There is nor fridge as it would not fit!
The sink is full of dishes galore
The black and white tiles make up the floor.
But in this disaster I do my best
To make super goodies that have that zest.
So sit yourself down and I'm make a feast
With mashed and peas and the best roast beast!

 The Thankfuls!

As you know Mom and Alex were gone all day Tuesday. They drove halfway to Vancouver to get Mom a new car. It was a long day and when Mom got home, she went out again last night. Today we have been holding her down on the sofa so that she can catch up with all those who has visited and commented on our posts and the people who we go and visit too!

We are thankful for our new chariot!

It is smaller, but it is 2 years newer and has 110,000 kms (68350 miles)  less on it. It does not have heated seats, but it does have a block heater (which helps the car in our cold winters). Mom got a really good deal because it has a manual transmission (apparently people don't want to shift gears anymore). Mom says she has to figure out how to get all our diity bags and cat carriers in there too! We are looking forward to watching her do that!
We are thankful for all of our furrends and their help as we went through all of this. We are thankful for our blogging furrends who come and visit, we are thankful for the hops that we pawticipate in-the people who sponsor them are wonderful and they they never complain! We are also for the Cat blogosphere and how they collect all the information about the hops, special days and other pet events. We are especially thankful to Ann at Zoolatry who works hard at creating all the fabulous artwork for badges, headers, etc that we see throughout the blogosphere.

❤❤❤ Thank you furrends, we love and appreciate you! ❤❤❤

We are pawticipating in Thankful Thursday at Brian's Home. Thanks for hosting this awesome blog hop! We love visiting all those who participate and reading their thankfuls too!

Thankful Poetry Thursday

Poetry!

Hi Guys! This week we are doing Sammy (and Teddy)'s Poetry! When we first looked at this picture, it reminded our Mom of canoeing on the Little Red River when she was a teenager.

 Adrenaline rushing through imagination

Then they stopped on the brink
Looking down made their stomachs sink
Of the tallest water fall
And the worst feeling of all
How to remove themselves from the top
Without that immediate stop
That crashing to the bottom would bring
Thinking of how much it would sting
Then another went kayaking by
And they let out a terrific sigh
Perhaps their imaginations went wild
The Fall was really a stream that was mild
But what a story the tale they told
Something to remember when they were old

The above is an actual photo called Kayak waterfall, adrenaline rush at Victoria Falls, Zambia, Africa. The photographer wrote, “To capture this feat, multiple camera angles were needed. For the film crew (and myself) to avoid aviation authorities and fly below the 1,500-foot minimum flight limit, the paddlers had to set off across the crocodile- and hippo-infested waters above the falls before sunrise. The paddlers approached the edge of the mile-wide, 350-foot-high falls to scout the rapids below. This moment was captured from a helicopter circling 500 feet above the falls, battling with mist and wind blowing up from the narrow canyon. Challenges included extreme air turbulence and constantly having to wipe water from the spray off of the lens. I had initially planned to shoot wide at 15 mm, but a last-second in-air lens change in these conditions rewarded me with this shot.” Photo #13 by Desré Pickers

Mom's Reality

Wordless Story Explained & A Limerick & Thankful Thursday

Wordless Story in 5 Pictures

First, what was Cinnamon doing yesterday? Cinnamon likes to watch out the bay window in the living room. She was letting me know that Kozmo was out front.

Kozmo and Lucifer (the black cat who lives across the street) were yodelling at each other.  1. She looked out the window. 2. She looked at me 3. She looked at the back door. 4. I moved to the other side of the living room and got a shot of her yelling at the cats! They split up, Lucifer running for his front door. 5. Cinnamon jumped down and did a big stretch yawn, her version of, I AM AWESOME!!!

A (Lame) Hot Sunny Crowed Beach Limerick

First up we are pawticipating in Poetry Thursday and Sammy and Teddy's blog! You can click on the button below and you will be taken to their blog Two Spoiled Cats!

Here is the photo we are to write the poem about!

Now we know our Mom would not even get out of the car if the beach was this crowed! She does not like crowds and is furry happy living in the middle of nowhere.

Have I failed to get to the water?
And my umbrella that I am to share?
Am I getting too hot?
Is this not my right spot?
I'll get sun burned where ever I'm bare!

Poetry and Gratitude in the Morning

This week we are furry happy to be pawticipating in Sam's Poetry Corner at Two Spoiled Cat.

You can click on his button to be taken to their blog!

This Thursday's image

And here is our poem!

The dawn is rising over the hill
As I walk beneath the trees
The new grass smells fresh beneath my feet
The sky's a deeper shade of grey
Reminding me I can endure
Any hardship I'm put through
The birds are singing among the trees
Soon the flowers will bloom again
I can feel Spring is coming
It's blowing in the wind
Days like this don't just happen
They're gifts from time to us
To let us know what we've forgotten
And most every day is good
Only sometimes misunderstood

Thankful Thursday

We LOVE thankful Thursday. It is the day we express our gratitude, and we have so much to be grateful for. The blog hops where we can visit old and new furrends, the people who run the hops, those who stop by our blog and those who leave us comments. We are grateful for YOU my furrend!

We are especially thankful to Brian and Family for hosting the Thankful Thursday Hop!

We are happy cats and dog! Today we want to tell you how grateful we are for our Morning and its routine. We wake up each morning happy! Cinnamon gently wakes Mom up by kissing her eyes. Mom has been trying to get us to sleep a little later. We used to get Mom up at 6. Mom is grateful that we now let her sleep until 7. Mom gets out of bed and the first thing she does, is let Cinnamon outside to do her business. Cinnamon is grateful she can come in and sleep on her sofa.

I, Marvelous greet Mom with my E!E!E! and weave between her legs guiding her to the cat food cupboard! I am grateful that I get wet food with warm water! I will eat and then I will return to my place in the front bay window where I can watch the birds, the deer, the dogs, the people and the racoons.

Kozmo patiently waits for Mom to make the bed, get dressed, brush her teeth, turn on the coffee, get out her parka , get Cinnamon's collar and leash, put on her boots. He is grateful he can go for walks with Mom and Cinnamon. He runs to to door to be the first out. When they get back, he comes in and has his breakfast. He is also grateful that I leave him food to eat.

Jo Jo is grateful that during the mornings she has the bedroom to herself. She does not get out of bed until MUCH later (usually she is still in bed until it is the Lunch walk). Then she comes out and is grateful that Kozmo and I have left her food. If we have not, she lets Mom know and she is grateful that Mom will get her more!

Are you gratedul for your mornings too?
