February 9th is Nutmeg's Birthday!

Todayis a big day! Nutmeg is 2!

For our Grrl's Birthday, Alex has made a video of a few of the photos he has  taken of her. 

I'll turn the blog over to the birthday grrl! 

 You can't miss my house here in the tiny village of Midway! My bestest Doggie Furrend is our Next Door neighbor Lucy (though her Dad and Alex call her Goose) and she set up a Kissing Booth! Lucy gives the second best doggie kisses (I give the best ones!)

I asked Mom ifwe could do a Paws Patrol (it is my favorite TV show when I get left at home with the cats) Photobooth like she did for Marv a few years ago and Mom said YES!! 

But I did not ask until today...so Mom said that NEXT Monday is Family Day up here in the Great White North and we could post them then!  We made a Photo Booth and I got a great shot of my Bestie Lucy 

 

and Marv got one of Kozmo and Katie Isabella (Thanks for coming over and helping to set up the pawty Katie!) 

And Katie took a terrific shot of Marvelous!

We will not be watching as it is NUTMEG's Birthday! BUT we might watch the Puppy Bowl XXI.

I had the best birthday ever! You guys are all the best furrends a cat could wish for. 

In honor of my birthday, we are donating to our local cat rescue. They are in a town about 45 minutes away and they lend out cat traps, spay and neuter and chip and tip the adult cats. Right now we are trying to capture Lucifer (the black cat across the street). Lucifer is an intact male (about 5 years old) and is semi feral. He has a territory that he sprays almost everyday. This has made some people quite irritated. 

Like many places, right now our areas shelter is bursting at the seams, so Lucifer will be coming back to Midway. When he gets back after his snip, chip and tip, we would like to get Lucifer eating his meals with Merle and Lindy -- the semi ferals that "live" in Ms M's shop and backyard.  Lucifer gets along on with all of us other cats -- each house on our street has at least 1 cat (because of all the rodents). 

Lucifer's owner was the same man (Mr T) we got Nutmeg from. 11 days ago Mr T moved to Saskatchewan and left Lucifer behind. Mom (and her friend Ms M) got a trap from the cat rescue and Mom has been trying to capture him for a week. Lucifer has evaded the clutches of the cat trap (though Mom has caught 2 Stellar Jays and a small Raccoon). Tonight, because it is my Birthday, Mom has pulled out all the stops! Besides the crunchies she has put out sardines. Yes, the same sardines I had for my birthday dinner. 

We are hoping Lucifer allows us to capture him soon. The people who own the house (that he used to live in) want to tear it down. They have been cutting down all the trees around the house and this has really upset poor Lucifer and made him more skittish than he was before. If you have any great ideas on how to catch a skittish cat, without a trap (the rescue says we can keep it 4 more days), please let us know, Mom is starting to run out of ideas. 

See! I'm not afraid of Nutmeg! Even if she talks back.

 

 

The sardines were a bust! 

We teased Lucifer with sardines in a dish outside the trap earlier in the evening AND he ate them, but he (and the raccoons) refused to enter the trap. Today, the sardines are in a dish outside the trap and we will put some inside again tonight, if he eats them....

Waiting for a Special Date

Koz LOVED the photo that Katie sent of her and Nellie yesterday. He makes a mean Nip-hito and invited Katie Isabella over to sit on the deck and watch the sunset.

Oh Yes, you are invited to my birthday party on Tuesday July 26, 2022. Koz says he will make Nip-Hitos for everyone! Mom says we have home made dog treats

Marv is Thankful

 

 

Gosh! I am thankful that Summer had settled in. Mom has been doing her morning writing in her journal and drinking her coffee outside in the the sun. I like sitting on the table and helping. I am thankful that Mom loves that I lay on her pen and demand pets. I am thankful that she knows all the spots that us cats love to get skrittched! I am thankful that the befores did such a good job in teaching her. And I am thankful that any moment she will go inside and get me some cheese....

I am getting excited! It's only 5 more sleeps! I am so thankful that so many  cats, dogs and Peeps are

Birthday Countdown!

 Hi Guys! In addition to this week's art I want to catch you up! Furrst, Mom and Alex have started putting down our new floors! They have not put the flooring in yet, they have to rip out the carpet and because the house has furniture, they have to move it around. That means CHAOS! Mom's Mission Control Desk is out on the street with a FREE sign on it. Mom says a new desk is in order when the flooring is down. Alex's bedroom and our bedroom have stuff from the living room. Us cats are a little disturbed, but its summer so we just go outside! 

Now MY BIRTHDAY is in 10 DAYS!!

 We had a terrific party yesterday! 

So many of or friends came from all over the world! We are touched. If you like, you can have a badge!

The Winners

Because of your comments yesterday, we are donating $50 to the Boundary Helping Hands Feline Rescue Society. They are a local a feline-focused rescue; trapping abandoned, feral, and stray cats and providing them with a better quality of life. They stepped up to the plate to house feral cats who need veterinary treatment before they can be adopted to fur-ever families. They started late last fall with a cat colony that had to be moved and worked with regional groups to get the cats to Critteraid. It became apparent that there was at least one other colony and ferals that needed help too. Working with the City of Grand Forks, BC, they opened in a building that had been purchased by the City after the major flood we had in our region in 2018. They rely primarily on donations, volunteers and fosters to take care of these abandoned and feral animals. Our local vet has provided heath care, shots, spay/neuters and micro-chipping (at a highly reduced rate) for these cats and kittens. 

We are so happy to be helping them and we thank you for participating by coming to Cinnamon's 10th Birthday!

Happy Birthday Cinnamon!

 Welcome to Cinnamon's Party!

 We are so glad you could make it! Even though we have a pawty for her every year, This is only the second time that we have celebrated her birthday on the blog. Cinnamon is 10 years old today! When she became part of our family there was 2 cat (Kozmo and Nellie) and the Hairy Slobbery Sister Bob. Her Gottcha day is June 15! 

We are making her birthday today a Comment-a-thon (until our post goes up tomorrow)

Welcome to my party! 

Mom baked me a special dog Birthday Cake! It has carrot, Oats, Honey, Flour, Vanilla, Peanut Butter and Egg. The icing is cream cheese. It is SUPER Tasty! Even the Cats like it but I do have a Tuna Cake for the cats!

And we have LOADS of foodables for our furrends!

We are so excited and Happy that you could come! Please help yourself to the food! We have some dog and cat games set up in our yard, Frisbees, hoops to jump through and dog balls in a pool!

And Kozmo has set up a Mouse hunt safari! 

And for those that want, to relax, there are chairs on the deck in the sun!
