As both Tigris and Marvelous are Canadian Cats, they thought they would like to share one of the jewels of our country with you - in photos (rather than a pawtrait).
Below is the story of their adventure.
“Marv & Tigris: The Banff
Whirlwind”
Marvelous the Joker King was lounging on his royal scratching (tree) throne when he felt a faint rumble beneath his paws — the unmistakable vibration of the Great Canadian Cat Tunnel Network.
Only blogging cats could sense it.
A glowing maple leaf symbol appeared on the floor.
It was a summons.
From the Gatineau Hills!
From Tigris, The elegant Lady Cat Tigris (part of the The River Cats who are Tigris and Styx and Lanie) She thought a special Canadian Adventure would celebrate Marvelous' Birthday and they could show their furrends throughout the world how special Canada is!
Marv flicked his tail, adjusted his Joker King crown, and stepped into the tunnel.
Arrival — The Cave and Basin Portal
The tunnel opened into the Cave and Basin Hot Springs, shimmering with ancient turquoise light.
Cats had used this place for centuries — long before humans discovered it — as a sacred travel portal. The Indigenous spirits who guarded the springs always welcomed cats, because cats respected the land.
Tigris was already there, her fur glowing gold in the steam.
“Marvelous,” she purred, “Banff awaits.”
Marv bowed dramatically. “Lead on, Tigris.”
A gentle spirit of the springs whispered, “Travel with care, little ones. The mountains know your names.”
They emerged beside Lake Minnewanka, where a tiny red canoe waited — clearly reserved for royal cats.
Marv hopped in and immediately declared himself Captain of the Canoe.
Tigris, with far more grace, took the front seat.
They paddled across the sparkling water, paws dipping in rhythm.
A trout leapt.
Marv leapt faster.
Splash.
Chaos.
But somehow — miraculously — Marv landed back in the canoe with a trout in his mouth, looking smug and soaked.
Tigris dabbed his face with a paw.
“Your Majesty,” she said, “you are ridiculous.”
He grinned. “Ridiculously successful.”
Scene 2 — The Banff Springs Hotel Cat
They carried the trout (wrapped in a leaf, because Tigris insisted on decorum) to the Banff Springs Hotel, where the legendary resident hotel cat, Sir Whiskerford, greeted them.
Sir Whiskerford was enormous, fluffy, and clearly in charge of everything.
“I shall take you to the chef,” he announced. “He owes me favours.”
The chef took one look at the trout, one look at the cats, and said, “Ah. Royal guests.”
He prepared a dish fit for feline royalty: Maple‑glazed Minnewanka Trout with Catnip Sprigs.
Scene 3 — The Mountie/Bear Escort
When they stepped outside, a Mountie stood waiting.
Beside him sat a bear wearing a red serge jacket.
“This is Constable Paws,” the Mountie said. “He will escort you on your whirlwind Canadian tour.”
Constable Paws saluted.
Marv saluted back.
Tigris tried not to laugh.
The bear led them through Banff
Past elk who politely apologized for blocking the path
Constable Paws had them stop for a Canadian Beaver Tail pastry (which he promptly devoured in one bite)
Past tourists who whispered, “Are those cats wearing lumberjack shirts?”
Met a Mountain Sheep with HUGE horns who giggled!
Constable Paws kept them safe, and he was proud to serve the Joker King Marvelous and the Lady Tigris.
Scene 4 — The Royal Canadian Moment
Then when they had walked up to the bottom of Sulphur Mountain, Constable Paws asked if they would like to wrap up the day with a ride up a mountain on a Gondola!
At sunset, they arrived at the Sulphur Mountain Gondola and they rode up to a lookout above the valley with a mountain goat on his way home after work (and posed for selfies)
The mountains glowed pink.
The air smelled of pine and magic.
A loon called from far below.
Tigris leaned against Marv. “This,” she said softly, “is why Canada is special.”
Marv nodded. “It’s the land. The kindness. The quiet magic.”
The aurora shimmered faintly — a rare summer appearance — as if blessing their visit.
Epilogue — Home Through the Tunnel
They returned to the Cave and Basin portal.
The spirit whispered, “Travel well, little ones. You carry the mountains with you now.”
They removed their plaid shirts, took one last selfie and
Tigris headed east toward the Gatineau Hills.
Marv headed west toward the Kettle Valley.
Both cats felt proud, connected, and deeply Canadian.
And somewhere beneath the Rockies, the Cat Tunnel Network hummed with contentment.
