November 1, 2026 and What's Happening This Month!

There is a whole lot going on in the Blogosphere in November! Please click on the above November Events badge to be taken to the November page. Here you can find the graphics sized to 300x300. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did in making them for the Cat Blogosphere and our Woofie Furrends!

Furrst Up is Senior Pet and Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

November is National Senior Pet Month, a time to honor the older pets in our care and highlight their unique needs. Created by the ASPCA and Petfinder, with national participation from organizations like the Humane Society, Chewy, and Petco.
Senior pets often enter shelters through no fault of their own — family changes, housing or financial challenges, or an owner’s health or life transition. But age doesn’t make them any less deserving of love. In fact, many adopters find that older pets are easier to welcome into their homes because they tend to be:
Calmer and more predictable, with established personalities.
Already trained, often knowing basic cues and household manners.
Often able to settle in comfortably when given a simple, consistent routine.

November is also Pet Cancer and Pet Diabetes Month!

Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death for domestic dogs and cats, so this month, spread the word to help educate pet owners about how best to protect their furry family members. We lost our beloved Cinnamon to Cancer and we were appreciative to a;; the advances that are continuing to be made in HealthCare when it comes to early detections and pet care.
November is also Pet Diabetes Awareness Month — a time dedicated to increasing understanding of this serious condition affecting cats and dogs. As pet owners, we strive to ensure our furry companions live happy, healthy lives. Recognizing the signs of diabetes, knowing how to manage the disease, and taking preventive steps are crucial to achieving this goal.

November 1 is Day Light Savings-Fall Back

Are you staying the same or Falling Back? Let us know! Here in the Great White North province of BC, we are staying on Daylight savings and will not be jumping forward next Spring. Here's what everything will look like tomorrow!

This Week November 1-7 is National Animal Shelter Week!

Many animal shelters are non-profit. This means they depend on donations and grants to stay open. The primary function of an animal shelter is to find a home for stray animals. They also help to reunite lost pets with their owners. Other services some animal shelters provide include animal health services, behavioral evaluations, training, pet-sitting, grooming, and humane education.
Animal Shelter Appreciation Week recognizes the shelters providing care that bridges the gap to adoption for millions of abandoned and stray animals. The event takes place each year during the first full week in November. The observance also acknowledges the hard-working people who support the efforts of the shelters and keep pets healthy

On to life in Paradise on Earth!

As you know, our Jo Jo LOVES to bring in the wildlife she hunts to to "play" with. She's getting elderly (she 15 years old), She brings in rodents and birds of ALL types and sizes. But she does not bring them in after she has dispatched them, she brings them in while they are alive. This last week there have been 2 quail (alive), a mouse (dead), a vole (alive) and some poor half eaten bird that had some yellow and black feathers!
The other day Mom and Nutmeg took Alex to Kelowna to catch a plane to start him on the journey to his next job. When Mom got home, this is what her and Nutmeg saw!

19 Turkeys!
These birds are HUGE! they are as tall as Nutmeg! Mom had to check the house to make sure that Nellie had NOT brought one inside to Play with!
Can you imagine the mess one of these guys could make?
But I bet I could have sold tickets to Peeps to watch our Peep capture the thing!
