Well, it is almost 6 months since Mom last took Nutmeg for a walk in the park!
Mom has not been outside - much less walking, until about a month ago.
About 2 weeks ago, Mom graduated from 2 wheel walker to Crutches in the house, at the grocery store and a 4 wheel walker outside for walking.
Nutmeg who is normally rambunctious, is very calm and good when she goes for a walk with Mom. Mom is up to walking to the corner and back 3 times a day. This makes Nutmeg happy, she just wishes that Mom went faster (and further).
Mom is glad that we live in a small quiet town, on a street with little traffic and we makes sure that she goes for a walk when it is quiet. Nutmeg has even been calm when other dogs are on the street.
Taking Nutmeg for a walk is something Mom and the Nutcase both enjoy and both get health benefits! Not only does Nutmeg’s mental health and physical well-being benefit from getting in some exercise, but so does Mom's.
Getting out with Nutmeg is a great way to bond. It gets Mom to take a break from always being so busy she gets in some quality time with her favorite pup and is a terrific way for both to unwind.
Nutmeg is also learning how to be calm, cool and collected and not to pull or let herself get overly excited.

Nutmeg is using her natural instinct and knows she needs to look after your mom.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad, mum Barb, that you are getting out and about again! As for you Nutmeg... I have found that you doggies are pretty good at knowing when your peeps REALLY need you to be grown up and polite when walking out. Well done that pup! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

ReplyDeletePoor Nutmeg, she probably still feels guilty. We are so furry glad the mom is going outside fur walks. But pushing a grocery cart full of food and the crutches, that would be a challenge. Lynn remembers furom havin' a walker in the cart, lol. I, Precious, had a dry warm day yesterday and the catio fence is up! I went out in the AM dark fur 2 hours! This morn I went out but had to sit on the step under the eave, as it is raining. Now I'm waiting fur a late morn snack and the off UTB till the next brunch. Nutmeg, have calm fun, lol. ReplyDeletewhat a blessing to be able to get out and walk and to use crutches in the house, after so long locked inside. Nutmeg Knows you are injured. Beau knows Bob can't walk, he can just shuffle slowly and he adjusts to that. I am so happy for you and Nutmeg that you get out 3 times a day..

ReplyDeleteWe're so glad to hear your mom is able to take Nutmeg for walks again even if they are short. Nutmeg is a good pup for learning to be calmer on those walks. Our paws are crossed that your mom continues to improve and will be taking long walks again.

ReplyDeleteWe're glad to hear that your Mom is making good progress and she can take Nutmeg out for mini-walks again. #1 has also been taking ne out for more walks lately and I just love it. It was hard for her before because I pull like a fiend, but I now have a special contraption called 2 Posh 2 Pull and it has changed everything!
