Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day and Chinese New Year (of the Snake)

Wow! This week I learned that Tuxedo Cats are NOT a breed, they are piebald (that means they are 2 different colors) and that they are not just black and white! Like calico and tortoiseshell cats, our well "dressed" tuxedo cats get their patterns during development. But for Tuxies, it's not about genetics.

They are loved by Peeps in History too! William Shakespeare, Beethoven, and Sir Isaac Newton all had pet tuxedo cats. These tuxies MUST have passed on their great knowledge of  artistic and scientific advancement.

Tuxies have made history too! A tuxie is the ONLY cat to have made it to the top of Mount Everest!
Another tuxedo cat named Simon went to war during World War II and got a medal (by protecting food from pests and mice). AND a tuxie made it into the White House. He owned Bill Clinton when he was President of the USA!

Kozmo tells me that Tuxies are especially loyal and affectionate that they were worshipped in Ancient Egypt and that they have magical powers.  (I disagree, I think ALL CATS can do that).
And here is our incredible Tuxi wearing his Chinese New Year Snake Crown!

If you would like your OWN Snake Crown (For the 2025 Chinese New Year of the Snake), the Graphic is BELOW our New Year Post!

Chinese New Year Year of the Snake!

Things are pretty boring at Casa De Marvelous. Mom is still not walking without a walker, it is winter so it is cold outside and Alex is working overseas so there is not much going on.
I, Marvelous have been watching a lot of Bird TV while Mom is on her computer. Today, the Snake, who came for Chinese New Year, is talking to the birds!

I wonder who will win...
Oh Yes, Mom made us ALL snake hats!

  1. Tuxies are handsome. Surprisingly out of all the cats I have had only two were tuxies. The first was Patch before I was married, then Toesies who was the last of my MIL's 11 cats that came to live with us after she died.

  2. I've had 2 tuxies. First one was Cincinnati. That's right, after the city I moved to just after getting this feral and pregnant female. She had to pure black babies. Then there was Suzy Q. Both so long gone but not ever forgotten. Kozmo, you indeed look handsome and super intelligent with the snake hat. And BFF Jo Jo, I love seeing you tummy exposed. Precious says hi to all. and hope Alex gets home soon. Long before the thaw. We are having our January thaw this week. Getting in a bit of short walks while slightly above freezing. So hoping you'll be out walking when Spring gets here Barb.

  12. Whoa, Kozmo, that sure is one heck of snake hat!! Such bright colors, what breed is it?? LOL!
You are a wonderful tuxie and snake crown model.

There used to be a very friendly tuxie kitty when I would take MJF for his walks, have not seen him in a long time. One of the teachers at the school where our sons went, had a tuxie lady-cat.
    Always dressed to the nines!
