Celebrate Shelter Pets Day!

We celebrate shelter pets on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving. This year, it takes place on December 5. And was started to bring awareness to those pets in shelters. A lot of people think of adopting a pet from a shelter but they don’t follow through because they think there was a bad reason for the pet being returned to a shelter. Most people who have adopted from shelters will tell you they are full of great pets. Our Nellie Belle was a pet that was deemed unadoptable. She had numerous behavior issues. But with understanding of what these issues were and what caused them  Nellie turned into a wonderful cat!

Nellie knew she was holding out fur yer household. Precious had only been in the orphanage 2 months but was so reclusive, no one even looked at her or for her. We saw her online photo and ran straight there to retrieve her. 10 feet up in the air on a wall cubby fur kitties. Had to use a ladder. Never thought not to do this and 12 years later, loving every minute of her life. Hope you are not snowed under 10 feet by now. We have bitter wind and below freezing for 2 weeks now, low teens at night. But the drought holds on, with not any significant snow. Sending our purrs to your household.

Adopt don't shop! This time of year is always wrought with stories of pets bought with no commonsense... and the shelters have to sponge them up. Hugs and whiskeries from YAM-aunty xxx (Who is a little sad today...

We both came from shelters and are thankful that our parents didn't hold that against us.

Oona: "OONA WAS NOT FOUND UNDER A CABBAGE LEAF!!! Oona was left on Dada's cousin's porch by a neighborhood cat."
Chaplin: "Close enough."

That's right! We remember Nellie Bellie's story, and she is a purrfect example of an amazing former shelter cat! All of our cats came from the shelter, and they have been the best. Every single one. XO

Trixie and Shimshi were adopted from the streets. Our woofie Uncle Messi came to Grandpaw and Step-Grandma from a shelter. We are purraying as hard as We can for all shelter kitties and woofies to find loving fur-effur homes.
