It is spring, but it is really cold, so I - Marv - have NOT be outside much. But yesterday I had an conversation with one of the squirrels in the back yard.
He would not shut up! He talked non-stop! I could not get a word in edgewise! Here are some of the things he told me:
Fact One: There are 280 species of squirrels (Who knew!)
Fact Two: Squirrels front teeth never stop growing. They gnaw on nuts and other things to stop them getting too long.
Fact Three: Squirrels live in every part of the world, except Australia and Antarctica.
Fact Four: Baby squirrels are called kits.
Fact Five: Squirrels don’t dig up all of the nuts that they bury, which is why we get new trees growing.

I thought I would try to come up with a few squirrel puns to make you laugh, and they are all nutty!
A wise squirrel once said "you are what you eat". He was nuts.
Why don’t squirrels have any friends? Because they drive everyone nuts.
I thought I would turn some into the Jokes for Happy Tuesday at Comedy Plus!
What did the Squirrel say to Cinnamon?
By the way, this photo is of the Entwined Trees in our village. "Back in 1857, surveyors began to create the International Boundary Line (Canada/US border). By 1861 a large portion of First Nations people moved to a reservation in Colville, WA. Before they left, one of the First Nations people entwined two sapling pines, saying “Though divided we are united still, we are one.” This tree symbolizes the connection and friendship that still exists today between Canada and the United States."
Now we are looking forward to coming around and visiting you. We are joining Sandee at Comedy Plus for Happy Tuesday! Please click her button to see all the other happiness!
oooh that was interesting!!!! we had no clue about that kits....
ReplyDeleteMarv, we have crazy squirrels all over our yard year-round. Precious used to think they were very entertaining, but now she much rather sit at the back door and watch Mama chipmunk running around looking for food for the babies. Or probably just herself. Love the squirrel jokes they're riot. Woke up this morning with snow on the ground. I'll tell you how I am sick and tired of this weather. But I always am by this time of year. The tree is magnificent. If Native Americans could have known it would stand this long, how they would have enjoyed knowing that. Hope you get better weather and that your mom is not working so hard that she cannot paint kitchen cabinets. Lynn and Precious
ReplyDeleteWe knew facts 2 and 5 about squirrels. For us there is only one fact and that is that squirrels are mean to dogs and are hard to catch. Very interesting post today!
ReplyDeleteWell these sure are some interesting squirrel facts we weren't aware of. We've got these critters all 'round here, too. Dad hooted about one just yesterday that was skittering around right outside our living room window and called for mom to bring me over to have a look see. I took one glance out the window, muttered "hmmphh", then asked to be put down, bored as ever.
