November Events and What is SPECIAL this Month

There is a whole lot going on in the Blogosphere in November! Please click on the above November Events badge to be taken to the November page. Here you can find the graphics sized to 300x300. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did in making them for the Cat Blogosphere and our Woofie Furrends!

FURST UP SENIOR PETS MONTH!

This day was started by the ASPCA  and Petfinder.com as a means to raise awareness about senior animals and remind people that senior pets are actually excellent candidates for adoption. AVMA (American Veterinarian Medical Association advocated in 2022 to have November as Senior Pet Care Month, which we also have a badge for!

2 good sites for this day are Petfinder - https://www.petfinder.com/adopt-or-get-involved/adopting-pets/about/adopt-a-senior-pet-month/ and https://olddoghaven.org/november-is-adopt-a-senior-pet-month/

November is also Pet Diabetes Month!

It is estimated that 1 in 300 adult dogs and 1 in 230 cats in the US have diabetes.
Diabetes cannot be cured, but with proper treatment and monitoring your pet can live a long, happy life.
Visit https://usa.petdiabetesmonth.com/ for all kinds of helpful information about diabetes and your pet.

Pet Cancer Awareness Month

November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month. It is run by the Animal Cancer Foundation (ACF). Animal Cancer Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding research in and increasing public awareness of comparative oncology, the study of naturally occurring cancers in pets and people. Their website: https://acfoundation.org/ contains a ton of information about Events, Promotions, Comparative Oncology News, the Canine Cancer Genome Project and More.

November 1st is Cook For Your Pet Day!

This very special day was created by a group of people with an interest in cooking for their pets. They have suggested that it would be a very wise decision for pet owners in general to spend some quality time not just to bond with our pets but also to cook for them even once in every year. Our Mom started cooking for the dogs way back before she even started blogging! Our hairy slobbery sister Bob had some allergies and Mom cooked for her and Sam and then Cinnamon. They LOVED their meals. (We liked them too but we preferred Fancy Feast). Mom is NOT cooking for Nutmeg. Not because she does not want to, but with no standing on her left leg being allowed for another month, Nutmeg is enjoying her wet and dry dog food. Quite frankly I, Marvelous figure she would eat ANYTHING that is put in her dish! As a matter of fact, right now she is eating her ball!

  1. When I was a child my mum always cooked the dogs meals. She got the meat from our butcher, lights and other meat that had a green dye on it showing it was not for humans. I assume it must have been okay for the dogs though because it never made them ill. I remember when she gave them lights (lungs?) if you heard a quiet pfft from under the table, hold your nose quick!!

    1. When Cinnamon was ill (the last 3 months) Mom cooked beef kidney for her, not only did they stink when being cooked, but Cinnie's pffts were epic and could clear a room! We all put up with it for it was so furry healthy for her! (We tried lung but it was even stinkier)

  6. Precious fits into a lot of the November categories. Today she is still UTB from coming home Wed afternoon .All her teeth are fine and no extractions. But she won't eat. Hubby went to Walmart 6 AM today to buy 1/2 dozen soft lickable treats. Hoping for the best.

  7. #1 says she used to cook a lot for Tommy, but it has now become a special treat, although Queen Tama gets chicken regularly at the moment.

  11. Java Bean: "Ayyy, 'Thankful for my Dog Day'! I am thankful for my dog every day!"
Lulu: "Do you ... Do you mean me?"
    Java Bean: "Sí, of course."
Lulu: "I'm not your dog. I was here first. You're MY dog. And I am thankful for you, for the record."
    Java Bean: "¡Gracias!"
