Bats get bad PR. They have rabies, they fly into Peeps hair, they suck blood from Peeps and animal victims and they turn into vampires on dark and stormy nights. Poor bats!
Most is totally WRONG! The truth is, they are handy guys to have around. Did you know that one little brown bat can eat 1,200 insects per hour! Just think about how pleasant it is to sit outside on a warm, bug-free summer night watching the swoops, dips, and squeaks of your very own nighttime buddies. We do! A few years back, the highschool kids made Bat Houses and they love to spend summer nights flying over the river behind our house eating the bugs!
I, Marv, talk to the bats at night and boy oh boy are they funny guys! THis is Boo Diddly!
Boo Diddly: "Hey Marv, What kind of bat can do a back-flip?
Boo Diddly is really a fun guy! Him and me, we love to play hide and seek before I have to go in for bed. Kozmo say he looks just like a flying mouse...

We like Bats too, we get lots flying around our house too and owls although Owls are a bit standoffish I find. Not like Jo the Crow...now he's a funny chap! xoxo Little Miss Titch
ReplyDeleteLynn loves to watch for bats in the morning and in the evenings. She tells me what wonderful things they are even though she's in the house behind the screen door. That's so the Skeeters won't eat her like crazy. She's always disappointed when winter comes and they've all flown away. I loved your back jokes and we hope that Kozmo wasn't too startled. No whatever you do Marv, don't eat any of them. Precious

ReplyDeleteA good reminder that bats are people too... hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
We think bats are DA BOMB, and enjoy watching them wing their way around as night falls.
ReplyDeleteMom cringes when she hears about bats. She can remember so well when we would discover one inside the house and she and angel Maggie would be hiding underneath the kitchen table. A screen over the top of the chimney fixed that right up, thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteYOu two got mom grinning!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have bats at our house too, but we don't know where they live during the day. Those were some funny jokes.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have anything against bats as long as they stay outside and don't bother the humans.
ReplyDeleteWe love bats too. Momma is a huge fan of fruit bats and Flying Foxes. We have them flying over our house, nomming all them nasty skeeters. I also appreciated yoor bad bat jokes. Love, Dori
ReplyDeleteWe love bats and we aren't afraid of them. They do lots of mosquito eating. Bless them for that.
ReplyDeleteLove your funnies Marv. You made me chuckle.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches all around, a smooch to Marv and big hug to mom. ♥
Bats are great! We watch them swoop and eat the bugs! Good job bats!
ReplyDeleteYour bat friend is a real Joker!
ReplyDeleteThose are funny jokes. We didn't know that flying mousies had such a sense of humour (mol).
ReplyDeleteThose were fun jokes! Bats are pretty interesting and we don't mind them at all.
ReplyDeleteCute jokes. I love bats, I have a few stuffed ones up for Halloween. XO
ReplyDeleteThanks for the bat info and jokes, Marv. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bat in purrson. ~Ernie
ReplyDeleteBats are favorites here! When we go to the zoo, i like to spend at least an hour just watching the bat house. We have the flying foxes, which eat fruit not bugs, but that's okay, both kinds are great.
ReplyDeleteOnly vampire bats, in South America, drink blood.
On occasion, bats can carry rabies, but it's no more common for them than for any other wild mammal.
As for them getting caught in your hair, it's not possible. One lady was telling that to a man who had a bat he took places for education, so he called her up and they actually tried to put the bat on her head and wrap her hair around it and they couldn't. Everyone was laughing so much, and finally she said, "You're right, it can't happen!"
Bats are awesome!!!
I haven't seen any bat, let alone a little brown bat, since they had their pandemic. But their numbers are rising again and I will be more than happy to see them again! This was such a happy post.
ReplyDeleteWe have had bats in our house...they totally had our first kitty Groucho in a tizzy. LOL! They were in our church once, due to a broken window in the balcony section.
ReplyDeleteA few months ago there were two bats in our cellar...no idea where they went, but when we are not down there its sort of cave like, maybe they found a small crack somewhere and got in. Petcretary could hear their flapping and squeaking radar. The ceiling is low in there and they were brushing the top of her head trying to get out of the way...they were likely as startled as petcretary was.
Outside, bats are very useful and welcome...though of late there have been some that were rabid...however us pups are vaccinated against that. Our local stores sell bat houses.
Everyone loves a bat until you come home in the dark and find a scared one in your hours swooping at you
ReplyDeleteHi Marv and Koz! Bats are the best! We have some around here, and they are great at eating mosquitoes and other insects. Boo Diddley sure is a funny guy.
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Wow, that's some pretty epic bug-eating the bats do."
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "I try to catch moths outside at night but I'm not very good at it."
Chaplin: "Hey our Dada wonders if Boo Diddley knows somebody named Boo Radley."
Lulu: "We have no idea what he's talking about, as usual."
We had bats in our house until our human brother put up a bat house outside. Now they're just nearby. Mom is much happier. Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty
