We are Supporting Boundary Helping Hands for Remember Me Thursday

On September 23, 2021, the entire world will share the importance of pet adoption, and shine a light on all orphan pets waiting in shelters and rescues. Since its inception in 2013, Remember Me Thursday® has made more than 1.5 billion impressions on social media.

,

July this summer was Marv's 5th birthday and we had lost internet access because of the wild fires in our area. Ms Ann and June (Zoolatry) held Marv's Party and our family chose to make it a comment-a-thon and raised $65. We chose to give it to Boundary Helping Hands and Mom took it there when she and Mary went to pick up our local feral, Merle .

Boundary Helping Hands helped our feral furrend Merle get snipped and up to date on his shots.  Since he came back home, Merle has been fun to be around. He comes and sits on our deck, we share hunting stories and he does not try to fight with me or Kozmo any more. We are so glad for Boundary Helping hands we are showcasing them for Remember Me Thursday!

About Boundary Helping Hands

For a few years, there has been no rescue organization in the Boundary Region. At the time of their incorporation as a nonprofit society in December 2020, Boundary Helping Hands had rescued over 100 cats & kittens, with the majority in their first year coming from hoarding situations. These were homes and properties with 30+ cats living in less-than-ideal conditions and suffering from many illnesses.
Once in their care, all of the kitties received all required veterinary treatment and were nurtured and nursed into healthy, vibrant kitties. Just last week, Boundary Helping Hands became a registered Charity!

Loving furever homes were found for 39 of the  rescues. At that time some were transferred to fellow rescue organizations (KAAP, Critteraid, Cat Therapy & Rescue, Okanagan Humane Society & SPCA) to give them the best chance at finding the purrfect adopters forever homes.

At any time, there are between 15-35 cats in their facility. Many of these cats require ongoing socialization to help them get over their fear of humans and to become loving house cats.

The work being done by BOundary Helping Hands benefits not only the hundreds of little lives they have saved; but also helps to protect the local bird population, controls the spread of infectious diseases to community pets, cuts down on feral/stray cat waste and spraying/marking of people's property, etc...

They also help with escaped cats, rehabilitation of feral cats and adoptions to forever homes.

Right now Boundary Helping Hands has cats and kittens that are looking for new homes. We share some of their posts on our Facebook page and for this special occasion, we are joining Remember Me Thursday. The kitty we are showcasing is Gemma!

This is Gemma!

Gemma is a loving, calm and easy-going young lady. She is about 2 years old and just finished nursing her kittens. She is still looking for her forever home, so fill out an application for this beautiful soul today.

We also have a video of Gemma!

Thankfulness

At our house, we are thankful for Marv. Since he arrived he has been an incredibly happy cat! I have never had a cat who was so joyful and has such an incredible sense of humor. If you are "down" he will go out of his way to try to get you to laugh! He is affectionate (on his own terms). It is when you try to pick him up you realize he comes from a place where he he was not treated with any kind of affection. You see the flash of fear and the defensive actions.

On the Remember Me Thursday Website, we have lit a candle for Marv this year. Please click on the candle to be taken to his page on the Remember Me Thursday site.

Almost all of the furries who have shared our extended family's lives are rescues and each has their own unique path to become part of our family. We support all the organizations that help animals!

We are so very thankful that Marv's life is now filled with love and joy and we are thankful that we can help Boundary Helping Hands! And we are Thankful that Brian is doing well weaning off some of his medications!  We are pawticipating in Thankful  Thursday at Brian's Home! This is such a brilliant initiative... if I am able to ever consider having another pet myself, it will most definitely be via adoption! YAM xx

  6. Not enough can be said about adopting pets from the Humane Society or a rescue home. Thank you for this lovely post and how wonderful it is that Marv has a marvelous home and a marvelous life. Precious was an orphan and we are so glad that she lives with us even though she too has her issues.

  7. Mom has adopted rescue cats always and one rescue dog. They have all been great pets, but right now she prefers to have our breed when it comes to the dogs. As long as breeders are good, that is a fine choice as well. We always support the shelter in our area.

  13. We know Marv's story and there were so many great groups that helped along the way. We have special groups in our area who help us with our ferals giving very low cost or free spay/neuter services. We all have to do our part in our area to help all those cats in need. With all doing a little there will then be little to do
