Welcome to November! Here are the Month Long Events!

Senior Pet Month

The month of celebrating senior pets is in November of each year, just in time for a few other holidays. National Senior Pet Month was established to highlight the many senior animals living in shelters throughout the United States that are looking for loving, caring homes. The idea is to get people who are thinking about adopting a pet to consider a senior animal instead of a younger one. Our Peep is a senior and she has had the joy of having many senior pets. She says, senior pets are often calmer, already house-trained, and require less exercise compared to young pets, making them easier to care for.She says me (Marvelous) and Nutmeg can be too rambunctious sometimes - especially when we play chase around the house!

Pet Cancer Awareness Month

In November Pet Cancer Awareness month is to show support for pets living with cancer and to educate pet parents on the prevention and treatment of cancer.Cancer is one of the main causes of death among domestic animals—and has been for a very long time. According to veterinarians, one in five cats is diagnosed with it. It’s an even bigger issue for dogs: one in four dogs is affected by this disease. And if the dog is over 10 years old, it will have a 50% risk of developing cancer. Yes, the statistics are quite disturbing. There are many things pet pawrents can do, but the most impawtent is regular vet visits. We found out early that Cinnamon had it and she was carefully monitored for the 4 years we knew she had it. This helped us to keep Cinnamon happy and pain free until the end.
#PetDiabetesMonth
This year, we are directing you to MERCK's Animal Health Site. They have all the information About Pet Diabetes and how Pets with Diabetes can live long and healthy lives. They have a terrific  Risk Quiz, Resources and Tools for taking care of pets with Diabetes AND MORE!!! We recommend that you go and check out all the information. Our Mom was blown away.

Cooking for Nuts!
When the Hairy Slobbery Sisters (Bob and Sam) were little, Sam had some tummy issues with the dog food that Mom bought for her. And it was not just the store brands, Sam had trouble with the prescription foods too. Mom figured that she could make dog food, so she started back in 2001. Making dog food was a regular weekly event and Mom made many different kinds. She continued with Cinnamon, though Cinnamon did eat canned food when Mom was living in Vancouver. She started eating homemade food when Mom moved back and it was particularly important when we found out she had cancer.
When Mom broke her leg, she could not make dog food and Nutmeg was eating puppy food. At the beginning of September when Alex started travelling for work, Nutmeg became very picky about her eating.
She would eat sometimes...until Mom was making this year's badge. Mom got out her recipes for Dog Rolls and she made one to take pictures of for the post. When she cooked it, Nutmeg ate her dinner and every dinner after that. Mom is back to making Dog Food on a regular basis. Here is a cooked Dog Roll!

This one has celery & shredded carrots

Yes! Us cats love it too! Oh Yes! The Recipe is on the blog! Check it out!

A Reminder for Tomorrow!

R U READY!!

We are! And we are telling Mom that changing the clock does not mean we are ready to have her change the time for FOOD!

  1. Your dog roll looks so yummy, Nutmeg! Mom used to cook for Maggie. Maybe one day she will cook for me too and you're right - just because the clocks go back doesn't mean that I want my breakfast an hour late tomorrow morning!

Never a dull moment, always something to see and do! I used to cook something similar to this dog roll for angel Jade - which Jasper cat thought was okay too, but he'd never let his sisdog know that, of course! Hugswagswhiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx (who loves your new header!)
