Friendly fill - ins with Mom!
This week we are getting Mom to do the friendly fill-ins.
1. BIRTHDAYS make me feel old.
2. Dancing to the oldies while cleaning the house makes me feel young.
3. Recently, being a computer Geek came in very handy.
4. I think that the new snow plow guy in the village is the most useless one we have ever had.
Thank goodness that since Christmas we have had more seasonable weather. I was getting tired of having to shovel half the road to get the car out of the driveway. But I gotta say, snow shovelling is a terrific cardio exercise!
The Friendly Fill-ins are written by 15 and Meowing (the first 2) and the second two are written by Four-Legged Fur Balls! We hope you enjoyed learning about our Mom as much as we love learning about you dear furrends.
AND
Today is the Lunar New Year's Eve!
When Mom and me lived in Vancouver it was a really big event. Richmond (a city that makes up part of Vancouver) is more than 80% Asian and South Asian. Seeing all the celebrations, Lion and Dragon Dancers, the parades and the wonderful cuisine was a unique experience. Mom misses it. Many of the people she worked with participated in the events and several of them were Lion and Dragon Dancers. Below is a video of the Lion Dancers getting ready for the excitement.
Rabbits, in the Chinese Zodiac are known for their sense of calm and peacefulness. That means this year will be profoundly different as tigers and rabbits represent opposite energies. The Tiger embodies Yang energy and the Rabbit, Yin.
Yin energy is more laid back, which means we can expect the Year of the Rabbit to be well-suited for reflection, rest, and renewal. That does not mean it will be boring though. It means we have a chance to step back, think about and realize our goals.
we dance too while cleaning the house... butt the mama always plays weird stuff LOL
ReplyDeleteMarv, your mom did fantastic on the fill-ins. I can think of other useless workers around here but I'll keep that to myself. Precious loves to watch the wild rabbits in the backyard so maybe it's a good thing it's the year of the rabbit. We're going to get a little bit of snow this weekend but that's all for now.

ReplyDeleteOoh that wee film was fun and informative! In Sydney, I used to join in the Lunar NY pawties... but tucked away here in small west coast Bonny Land, there is no such things... I will just have to hold my own celebration - and prepare some noodles and stir fry! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
I really enjoyed the avatars and the answers and the entire post. I have seen those dancing dragons a few times on TV but never in real life. we don't celebrate the New Year NY, so no Chinese New Year either. it seems like our lives here have been yin yanking on yang and up and down and back and forwards, like a good lion and a bad lion jerking us around... peace will be welcome if it happens
ReplyDeleteWith it being the year of the rabbit, there will be no calm in our house. Rabbits make us wild. Mom is dreading it, LOL!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like DRAGONS!
ReplyDeleteAnd the closest we've ever come to a rabbit, is our Celestial Angel who had the softest fur, like a rabbit's.
When our sidewalk was replaced, shoveling snow became a whole new ballgame; no more smacking the shovel into the uneven cracks!
Music helps Mom when she's cleaning too.
ReplyDeleteWe loved reading your mom's fill-ins and learning a little about her. That lion dance video was fun.
ReplyDeleteSupermarkets in France try to get on to the CNY bandwagon but that's about it around here. We don't even have a proper Chinese restaurant in this town.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Mom dances with the vacuum cleaner too!
ReplyDeleteThank you to your mom for participating in the fill-ins, great answers except I am sorry about the snowplow guy. I love your pictures too. We were going to get Chinese food with another couple but canceled because I want to be with Emmy. XO
ReplyDeleteGreat fill-ins! Happy Lunar New Year! I am a Horse and my Sweetie is a Rooster! Our oldest son is a Rabbit, next son is a Goat and our daughter is a Monkey! We are definitely a menagerie!
ReplyDeleteYour fill-ins were fun, with all those little cartoonized images!
ReplyDeleteThere isn't much going on here for the lunar new Year, though we do have quite a few Asians living around these parts. Maybe they have private activities?
I was born in the year of the Rabbit, but I prefer to say the Year of the Cat. I hope the snow plow guy learns how to do a better job. We very rarely get snow like that. I remember one year, probably late 70s when we did get a lot of snow. Ivor worked for the council at the time and as he drove a tractor he was given the job of snow clearance. I was snowed in at work so he came and picked me up and took me home. At least our lane got plowed at the same time!
ReplyDeleteThose were good answers, except maybe #4. Happy New Year gang!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to celebrate any more birthdays. Instead, you celebrate the anniversary of your 29th birthday. It might help.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your snow plow driver is less than stellar.
Thanks for all the fun information about the New Year and thank you so much for joining Feline Friday!
Great answers and no one will be able to top the graphics.
ReplyDeleteWe're so happy it's the year of the Rabbit.x😻💗🐾
ReplyDeleteThe cats all look like they are anticipating a great feast of Chinese food!
ReplyDeleteTerrific fill-ins, Mom Barb! We love how you used your avatar for your answers. :) Yay for the Year if the Rabbit! We sure do hope 2023 is a yin year.
ReplyDeleteLoved your fill-inns, Granny likes to dance too when she's cleaning, and we run away from cleaning...MOL...We believe that this year will be more Peaceful and smooth, so we all can chill out a little bit more😸Extra Pawkisses to you all my furriends🐾😽💞
