Marvelous Believes in Peace

I, Marvelous, came from Tehran in Iran. Some say us Iranian Cats are a breed unto ourselves!

Here is some information about the History of Iranian Street Cats from the Wisdom Site:

Like all domesticated cats, Iranian street cats trace their roots back to the African Wildcat—whose native land stretched from Egypt to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey.

As civilizations developed, cats became helpful partners in pest control. And it wasn't long before they endeared themselves to humans for more than their mousing skills.

Compared to dogs—which most Islamic scholars consider unclean—cats are the preferred pet in Iran. Under Islamic tradition, cats gained favor because Prophet Mohammed was said to enjoy them.

Though the exact origin of Persian cats is unknown, experts think they originated in modern-day Iran. That said, non-pedigreed cats are (by far) the most common in this region. Like in many countries, big cities in Iran are home to a large number of street cats. Many people in Tehran and other cities take it upon themselves to feed the feral cats living in their neighborhoods.

I am a little differently built from my Domestic Short hair siblings. I have bigger feet for my size, my skull is broader through the ears and I am stockier. Because I was born and lived my first few months on the street, I avoid eye contact (unless I know you well), I will NOT allow anyone to pick me up and will lash out with teeth and claws if startled. But I am slowly becoming much more affectionate and I do not run when Ms F talks to me when I am catching mice for her. I also get along very well with the neighbor cats! Much more so than Kozmo or Jo Jo! Purrhaps it is because of my living in a street colony or it is because I believe in Peace! And because I came from a war torn country, I want peace for the cats in Ukraine and everywhere else there is conflict.

From Imagine by John Lennon

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

More than many, you Marv, understand the value of peace and what it means within a community. Your homeland needs it so very much and right now its people are suffering more than ever. As much of the world is. We hold hope for all, on this day ... and for all days to come.

I love cats, I love your globe! I too was worried about the cats in Ukraine and other animals there. My friend is a stewardess and with a few colleagues she started 'Wings For Animals' to fly pets to safe countries. I donated, they do great work. Peace to you!
