All of cats were in bed with Mom having our treats last night when we heard very loud caterwauling in our back yard! Mom looked out the window, and in the dark, she could see Merle and Lucifer having a "conversation". There was some whappy paws and then Merle took off!
When Mom walked past Mary's with Cinnamon this morning, she saw Merle eating his breakfast. She remembered that she had not gotten a shot of him when he came home from the vets and his sojourn at Boundary Helping Hands recovering from antibiotics. And she asked him of she could take his picture.
Of course, he said.
Merle lives in the shop behind him. He was having his breakfast "el Fresco" this morning. He says he did not like being cooped up inside but he does like being able to come and go and sleep where he wants.
Mom asked him what he was doing fighting with Lucifer in our back yard last night and he said Lucifer is still an intact male and had not yet realized that he, Merle was not. Lucifer wanted a fight and Merle says he does not feel like it any more. And that is what he was telling Lucifer.
The lump he had on his face and head from the infection is totally gone and he has been enjoying the sunshine, his new bed in the shop and the noms that Mary gives him. He is also starting to make furrends with us, Mrs S's Blackie and Mary's other 3 cats. He's actually a nice guy now that he does not want to chase us out of his territory any more.
we hope it will help to prevent fights... and Merle can enjoy his breakfast in the morning without having a hard night...
ReplyDeleteMerle is a handsome boy. It looks like he is wearing lipstick in the first photo. I am glad Lucifer will soon have the snip too.
ReplyDeleteI really like Merle, even though he seems to have gone through a lot of battles!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordless Wednesday, Marv!
Oh Merle has such a cute face....glad he's doing well and has a comfy spot in the shop and steady food. I think he's had a tough enough life - it's time for the GOOD LIFE!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
Very good news when people take care of our outdoor kitties and see to it that they are spayed or neutered. Too many baby kittens don't forget to grow up and be healthy when they're born in the wild like that. Your mom got some great pictures of Merle thanks for showing them to us.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, a cat fight! Our kitties fight sometimes too, but nothing serious. Be careful about mentioning the upcoming "snip". Kitties know when something is up and he may be hard to capture on that day! He is a good looking kitty.

ReplyDeleteWell it is lovely to meet Merle and hear how he is doing... here's to Lucifer joining the neighbourhood circle with less hiss and spit soon enough! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

ReplyDeleteThere will be a lot less fighting, when all of those 'guy' hormones are gone, for sure!
ReplyDeleteOh those conversations can be intense. I hope in a couple of well all the kitties will be calm and get along. I so remember the fights.

Merle is clearly very serious!
ReplyDeleteLucifer might get to be a good furend of all you neighbourhood kitties one of these days, too. Wouldn't that be great?
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Merle does look like he has a thing or two to say!"
ReplyDeleteChaplin: "We are sure the boy cats will get everything worked out. I mean, I'm such a reasonable fellow, I'm sure you all will be too."
Charlee: "Uh-huh. Yeah. You're the epitome of diplomacy, Chaplin."
