I am so very thankful for our blogging friends.
Some I have known for a long long time. Like the Pouponette. I started reading their blog in 2009. Through reading #1' s posts, I discovered the pets and the people who love them, and wrote for them, were no different throughout the world.
Soon Nellie Bellie told me she wanted to be a part of this world. Through comments, connections get made and friendships develop. And one of my friends is The Pouponette.
Genji des Rêves d'Aton, aka The Shining Prince/光源氏 was only 9 years old when he passed away unexpectedly last week. Although I have never met him in person, I was an avid follower. I remember when he first arrived as a tiny blue kitten and felt like he was one of my extended family.
Genji was a lover. He loved his dog brother Tommy, who predeceased him in December 2018, his feline brother Beebs who went over the bridge in May of 2019, sister Sei in March of 2018, and Traveller (the outside cat) who left in June of 2016.
Genji was a joyful, crazy, hilarious companion! When the new canine brother Ollie arrived in January 2019, Genji immediately made him feel loved.
Genji, we enjoyed your antics (and your snuggles with the other animals and #1). We loved your lithe blue form and your large heart. We know your befores are making you feel welcome and we know you are resting in peace. You will always be in our hearts.
Thank you Virginia. Thank you so much for for sharing him with us!

❤❤❤ Thank you furrends, we love and appreciate you! ❤❤❤
We are pawticipating in Thankful Thursday at Brian's Home. Thanks for hosting this awesome blog hop! We love visiting all those who participate and reading their thankfuls too!
So hate hearing of sweet furs that go over the rainbow bridge. I love my babes so much that losing one is so very, very hard. Just this month, one yr ago I had to have my best bud put down. He had cancer, he was 13, my Rat Terrier. So hard to let him go but he had been by my side through thick and thin, and cause of that I could not let him suffer.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad things are going better for your human.
ReplyDeletethat was so sad that virginia had to say good bye to her Prince.... ;O((((
ReplyDeleteWe miss Genji, too, but you sure knew him much longer than us.
ReplyDeleteWe did not start blogging until Feb, 2014.
I haven't met any blogging friends, but I sometimes feel I know them like best friends!
I am glad you're feeling better, 'firsts' are SO hard...
Springtime needs to hurry up!! LOL!

ReplyDeleteIt's never fun to say goodbye to dear friends - I send my love and condolence to all who mourn Genji.
Glad to hear that things are lifting and lightening at your place and that you all can enjoy some better weather; I hope to be able to report similar from here before too long!!! Hugs wags whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
We are glad your mum is feeling better and we are so sorry to hear of Genji's passing x
ReplyDeleteI was very sad when Genji passed. I never met him but did meet #1 and also Vidock a couple of times during her trips to England. She really is a nice and genuine person.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better, Barb. Anniversaries are always hard but particularly the first.
The arrival of better weather will help lift the spirits too.
We never knew Genji but he sure was a handsome guy. We ache for his family and friends. Losing a family member is so very hard.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad that you're feeling better. Love your Easter header!
So happy that your Mum is feeling and doing better.....it's hard adjusting to a "new" life. We didn't know Genji but a lot of people did and we DO understand how hard it is to have to say goodbye. Happy to hear your Mum is drawing and painting..........she's SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
Precious and I are hoping that your good weather continues. So you can get in outside and all of you take a walk and some sunshine. That your mom's paw starts to feel as good as your paws. Sometimes spring is the time of year to make things feel better, but memories never go away, and for that we are thankful.
ReplyDeleteWe love the thankful graphic. It is amazing how close we get to our blogging friends, most of whom we have never even met, and their pets as well. Thankfully through the old blogpaws, we met some bloggers. It is so sad that is no more! We are happy to be friends with you, and hope things keep looking up.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your beautiful memory of the little Prince. I too remember him when he was a baby and come to be with his #1. It truly hurt me as well when he flew away to the Bridge. Regarding you, I am deeply grateful you are better. I did not know somehow about your achilles tendon and I can't think how painful that was and is. You yourself have been through so much; . I genuinely think of you and how you must be doing whether or not I am I going to see the blog family, each day. I consider you a friend and it matters how you are and are faring--and you have enriched all our experiences here.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog header. Beautiful tribute to furry friends who went over the bridge. Good to know that your mom's tendon is healing and wish her complete recovery soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are still really sad about dear Genji, they've had way too many losses. I'm sure glad you are doing better, that's terrific. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteThe downside of blogging is losing special friends even though we might never meet them in person. The positive side is HAVING those special friends who we might never have met.

We were so sad to hear about Genji too. It's good to hear you mom is feeling better and our paws are crossed that she continues to heal.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dear Friends! We are so touched by your lovely, lovely post about our Genji. He was always a tiny boy, with a tiny voice and a huge personality. He was also incredibly affectionate, not just with me but with everyone. I was lucky to have him in my life, even if it was only for nine short years.
ReplyDeleteWe are so thankful to have you as our friends. We really miss Queen Penelope, but love following the adventures of all of you. We are thankful that you are back to blogging full time.
Purrs and Woofs,
Tama and Ollie (and Fernant too today!)

ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
Sorry to hear about your friend. Hugs to his family.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad you're getting some spring weather. Today we have gray skies and rain, typical of WNY this time of year.
So sorry to hear of yet another beautiful dear cat going across the Rainbow Bridge. My heart goes out to them with the loss. Happy to hear that cinnamon could get longer walks and that you can get longer walks also. And I agree 100% that are log land friends both old and new keep us going through good and bad
ReplyDeleteWhoa! How did I miss that you have a torn achilles? Sending healing purrz. Sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteWe knew dear Genji and know he was deeply loved, had many friends and will be missed by all. It is even harder when a friend is so young which he was. We switched emails and lost the reminders of postings at The Pouponette so did not get there as often as we had but still visited. We send them our purrs and prayers of support. We are also glad to hear that Mom is doing better. Those are slow to heal and we send her our purrs also.
ReplyDeleteI think our blogging friends have even been more precious this past year because we were shut in so much. We all became far closer. I'm thankful for that.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Thankful Thursday, my friend. Scritches to all the babies and a smooch to Marv. A big hug to you. ♥
I've only been blogging for a few years so I am not as familiar with Pouponette, but now I feel I know them all - beautiful tribute! Hugs to all who loved sweet Genji.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day every day- glad to hear your Mom is doing better!
ReplyDeleteI have been a blogger for 16 years and miss my early blogging partners. Some have died and some have moved to Facebook entirely. It is fun to make new friends and see new posts.
ReplyDeleteSad to see another cat leave for The Bridge. I am glad your mom is doing better. XO
ReplyDeleteWe too have known the Pouponette for many years and were so saddened by yet another loss for #1. Hugs to her and the family.
ReplyDeleteHope the months to come are so much better all around for you.

ReplyDeleteWe are thankful for you and we know you have had pain when you lost your cats, but that is greatly balanced out by how much love you have had.
