National Cat Day

This is the US Celebration for CATS! National Cat Day was launched by Colleen Paige. Paige is a conservationist, an animal behaviorist, and a pet lifestyle expert credited with establishing similar holidays, such as National Dog Day and National Pet Day. According to Paige, the purpose of National Cat Day is to bring awareness to how many cats need rescuing.

Cats are a part of our Peep's life. She was owned by a cat before she was even born! And Grey Cat thought Mom was her baby. Grey Cat was a rescue. She was born in a cat colony. All the cats were trapped and taken to the  brand new Humane Society that had been started by a friend of Mom's Grampa.  As they were adopted, the cats were spayed or neutered. This was the beginning of Mom's love for cats and the first of a long string of cats that came from shelters. We wanted to tell you a little of our stories.

Mr Koz and his litter mates was rescued by some store employees and taken to the local shelter. All he had to do was bat his big green eyes at Mom. Those and his smokey stares has had her smitten for 14 years! He LOVES everyone and everyone LOVES him! HOWEVER, if he gets angry, (like when Mom was in the hospital), he pees in front of the litter box! We all wonder why, but hes not telling.

Beautiful Jo Jo's Mom was a purebred Siamese who escaped! Her litter had 3 little tabbies and they were surrendered to the shelter. The shelter was doing outreach at a farm market and brought the brand new kittens. In this case, it was our Dad who was smitten. From the moment she laid eyes on him she was his cat and he was her Peeps. She will come and cuddle with Mom once in a while and she sleeps on the bed with Mom. She chase me (Marv) and Mr Kozmo and hisses and whapps us, but she LOVES to play with Nutmeg! When she is mad, she goes downstairs and flings litter EVERYWHERE!

I, Marvelous am a rescue! I was rescued from death when I was found by a dog rescue lady in Tehran. I was taken to a vet. There I had rehabilitation for my damaged lungs. Then I was put in a carrier and I travelled to Vancouver where I met my Mom!  We lived together in a condo until we moved to heaven on earth! I LOVE being a Canadian Wild Cat!

Today we shall celebrate Cat Day with Sardines!

Are you celebrating?
