THis is what the Kitchen looked like the day Mom went to pick up the 98 boxes!
Here is what we have accomplished in 3 days of DEMOS (Note the Peeps took off Sunday and Canada Day)
THis upper cupboard set took the longest.
Mom and Dean were totally unsure of HOW everything was put together.
This is the End of Day 1
Here is looking up at the inside of the bulkheads that go all around the kitchen!
Mom says the bulkheads will have to stay! Good thing that she did NOT order up to the ceiling cupboards! This one, buts out into the room and will have something like decorative lighting! It is a great creative space now!
Day 2
The lower cupboards have been removed EXCEPT for Shirley!

Day 3
Look at that! A BARE WALL!
Once Shirley made it to the backyard, Dean started the Plumbing of the pipe.
THIS is the cause of the Kitchen being dismantled. there was a FORK stuck in the bend just behind that joint, where the pipe makes a 90 degree angle to go straight down to the basement. Dean pulled the fork and scooped and pushed a ton of debris, congealed grease and gunk out from above and flushed it out down below. The pipe is now clean as the day it was installed! No walls had to be destroyed! WHAT A RELIEF as it saved us DAYS of work.
And here is what the kitchen looks like now!
THe next step is the raising of the floor under where the cupboards were and the start of the Ikea assembly. I am sure there will be many HBO words as our ancient Mom tried to put the lego of the Ikea kitchen together. We will catch you up as we get a chance. In the meantime, Mom is off to enjoy the Canada Day Parade!

Yay for more cupboard space and your kitchen is coming along beautifully! This is so exciting as mom says that the kitchen is the most important room in the house!
ReplyDeleteOh my word oh my gosh oh my golly! Is Shirley going to get a proper funeral when this is done? And who the heck put a fork down this sink. This will look so nice when it's all done sometime in the year 2028!

ReplyDeleteMy word, Marv, that's major upheavals going on there... I am glad that mum is taking appropriate leisure time in between things though. It'll all be worth it in the end! Hope Canada Day was joyful. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Very interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing the photos ... looking forward to the next set!
ReplyDeleteThree days of hard work, but you're ready for the rebuild. Wow, it's going to be beautiful. After pictures please.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day. Enjoy the parade.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week. Scritches all around, a smooch to Marvelous Marv and a big hug to you. ♥
Oh my word! Me and my mom are amazed at the job!! That is a huge undertaking for ALL of you, Kozmo and Marv included!! My mom would have had to hire someone. She is as useless as a bag full of coffee grounds! I can't wait to see it when it is finished. I'm sure Kozmo will be tired and needing rest and tender ministrations. Slip on over UTB, Kozmo. I will massage your aching back.
ReplyDeleteKitchens are a big mess but it will be worth it when it's done!
