December 21, Winter Solstice

I was walking Nutmeg the other day and I was talking to one of my neighbors as we watched our dogs playing together. I mentioned that I was writing a post for Marv's Blog about the Solstice and he told me about the Solstice Solargraphy that he had tried once. Intrigued I went home and looked it up on the internet.
A Solargraph of December 21, 2011 - 2012
Solargraphy uses a simple pinhole camera (often a modified aluminum can) to capture the sun's path over days or months on photographic paper, creating beautiful sun trail images. Instructions involve creating a light-tight can with a pinhole, loading it with photo paper in a darkroom, taping it shut, and mounting it outdoors facing the sun (South in Northern Hemisphere) for an extended period. After months, retrieve the paper, develop it (often scanning and digitally inverting), and reveal the sun's arc across the sky.
I got sucked into all the gorgeous images online. I am hoping to be able to get all the materials together and try to set one up here.
