November 17 - Take A Hike Day!

We are no longer hikers at our house....maybe in the future, but it looks like Mom's leg will be forever bent. Right now, walks are limited to the flat streets of Midway as Mom has to use one of these to walk the Nutcase!

Mom does not like to go "off roading" with it...It does not have springs and she really has to watch where she puts her feet and where the wheels are going (all 4 can swing any direction they want). But it is great for our flat smooth streets.
Mom was bemoaning the fact last week and she and me were reading Auntie Yam's blog and she talked about her "Rolls" and that is when a light went on!

Rolls Royce's don't go back roading!

Mom is now looking for a 3D Printer pattern of a sculpture like the Rolls Royce Hood ornament!
I don't see that happening before Take a Hike Day though...

I can see me and Mom when we finally get the Spirit...

Now that is what I call taking a hike!!!

  2. That would be great to have a Spirit of Ecstasy on the walker. I had my review a couple of weeks ago for my peripheral neuropathy and the physiotherapist told me walking with one stick was making me walk more off balance, so he gave me another stick. It is easier walking with two. He said I would need a walker, but not yet.

  3. For the very first time yesterday, we saw a lady walking with a "Rolls" on the street in front of our house and she was doing a great job! Sunday morning is low traffic.

MOL MOL MOL... Yes, you mum and I are in the same state, Marv. The thing is, though, is my Rolls-later is a bit of a fancy model that does actually permit me to go a wee bit off-road. Not super-hiking like I used to do, but certainly unpaved roads are manageable - as long as there are not too many tree roots, big rocks, mud... so not your 4x4 driving, but definitely some nature pathing. That said, to be able to go out and about at all with such an aid is definitely a bonus for us oldies and infirmies!!! Hugs and whiskeries YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Terry, I was gonna say that! Considering those delivery men I had who were no good. If I ever see them again it'll be "take a hike" for sure!

  10. Marvelous, you can go off-road if you soup that thing up for your 4X4 too!!! Tell your mom love and hugs from us.

  11. Gramma has one of those things on wheels to get around and keep her from falling. It is definitely not for off road adventures. We are sorry you can't do those anymore. Mom would be devastated if she couldn't be out and about with us, so we understand how hard it must be for you.

  12. I think your mom's walker would look cool with a Rolls Royce statue on the front. You will be riding in style then. BOL!

  15. It makes me a bit sad to know that hikes which you loved are no longer on your agenda. But the Rolls Royce emblem on your own rolls would be fun to show everyone that despite the walker and gimp leg you have a ton of spunk!

  16. Ooh, we hope your mom finds a RR hood ornament for her walker. That would be so cool!

  17. Java Bean: "Ayyy, hikes are fun, but so is walking the neighborhood and reading the local peemail!"
Chaplin: "It's kind of like what Dennis told us about how when Tucker couldn't go for walks anymore, Mama and Dada got him a stroller and a wagon so he could still ride along and smell the smells and get out once in a while for a close-up sniff."
Lulu: "And how sweet would that walker be with a fancy hood ornament?"
