Today is a celebration for animal lovers like you and me everywhere.
October 4, is our chance to mobilize into a global force, to take action against animal cruelty, neglect and unfair treatment and make the world a better place for all animals.
Why October 4?
It’s the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, so what could be more fitting?
This Year's Theme is Save Animals! Save the World!
We congratulate Samar from Egypt for submitting this wonderful theme! It reminds us of the connection between animal welfare and the health of our planet. From the loss of biodiversity and habitat destruction to industrial farming, factory farms and pollution, the ways that we treat animals have a direct impact on the environment – and vice versa.
By conserving keystone species, we can preserve the diverse habitats that surround them. This means that safeguarding animals like tigers or wolves, it means their corner of the Earth being protected from harm.
When we stand up against wildlife crime, preserve their home (habitat), fight against the cruelty of factory farming, and ensure the well-being of our much loved pets, we contribute to a more sustainable and compassionate world.
World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to, making the world a better place for all animals. Each one of us can make a difference – together we make change! Be part of something special.

ReplyDeleteChaplin: "Dennis used to tell us how he and Tucker and Trixie would go to the Blessing of the Animals at the Franciscan Mission nearby! And our legendary sister Trouble would get blessings remotely, because she didn't want to go to a big event outside with lots of strange dogs."
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Yeah I would give that a hard pass too."
