National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day

Natural disasters. like wildfires, floods, and storms often strike without warning, leaving families scrambling to ensure their safety. For our Peeps, this means not only preparing for their own evacuation but also ensuring us pets are ready for emergencies.

Recently the wildfires in Los Angeles (and the possibility of disastrous events in British Columbia like earthquakes and wildfires) it can cause damage to thousands of homes and displaced hundreds of animals. It is heartbreaking to see families losing their homes and not know if their furry friends have survived. We are sure many, many animals are now shelters where they are unable to be reunited with their guardians. Our thoughts and prayers go out for these families and their furry companions.

Today is to raise awareness of disaster preparedness for animals and how to care for them them in critical situations. Today, you can learn how to keep your pets safe in case of a disaster.

To read about what you can do check out https://pangovet.com/pet-lifestyle/general/animal-disaster-preparedness-day/

And the ASPCA has a terrific info graphic telling you what you can do!

  5. Thank you Marv for reminding us about natural disasters occurring. What it does to Wildlife and what it does to domestic animals is very sad. When you're at home you do need to make plans.

Oona: "Oona is still not going to let Dada put a collar on her, though. Or more accurately, she will let him put it on her, but then she will take it off and hide it somewhere."
