Awww Monday!

 Hi Guys!

We survived Halloween 2021 with NO ESCAPEES. Kozmo and I and Cinnamon chilled out in Mom's Bedroom. We got treats and BC Buddy, the TV was on so we could not hear all the excitement and we had a restful evening. Jo Jo was in the Man Cave downstairs.  Yes, we got some of the good stuff for being such good cats!

Mom likes to decorate the yard up, over the years she has built grave yards, filled it with ghosts, witches, super heroes, pirates, and spiders. Since the 1990s Rachel (a life size doll of an old lady) has been a part of the evening. This year (like last year) she was a witch.

Rachel's transformation from mild mannered old lady doll to Persephone Darkbird — The Hedge Witch

This year we incorporated video, lights and music.

Note: We played a playlist from YouTube and the song playing in the background was part of that.

Here are a couple of shots of the  house and yard as it got dark

Over to Mom!

Our village is where the farm kids come to Trick or Treat. We have the regional high school and the kindergarten to Grade 5 kids.  In the past, our house was the only one that had more than pumpkins. I would put up the decorations on the day of the festivities, and around 9 pm they all go down and disappear. It was fun to see that our village sported a dozen decorated yards this year! The year I moved to Vancouver, the village decided they would have a bonfire with hot chocolate, coffee and hot dogs from 5:30-8 pm for the trick and treaters and their parents. This has generated a festive atmosphere as all the kids and their parents wander the streets. So different from the big city.  (We also had twice as many kids this year as last year.)

I really noticed how polite the kids are, the older kids are respectful and I find it wonderful that they prefer to hang onto being kids than wanting to be all grown up! When handing out the last of the candy just before 8, one teen told me he did not want any candy as he had already been around and he was bringing his friends to his favorite places. He and his buddies wanted to know how we got the video on the house windows and offered to help me take down the decorations so they would not get all frosted.

All in All, Halloween was AWWW-SOME!

  2. Wonderful decorating! You had some great trick or treaters. we had a few older kids, very polite and little ones to make us smile with their costumes. Always so polite too. Makes a heart happy. There was a Halloween House about 8 minutes from us. The guy synced his Halloween music to a local radio station. It was fun to visit. Lots of people too all month long. That was nice of the young fellow to ask to help you get your decorating put up. I hope the new motnh is good to you all and you have a blessed week. Take care and thank you for showing us your fun Halloween House.

  8. Thanks for popping over to my blog. Great Halloween decorations! I just have a display of pumpkins, some fake, some real. It rained all day yesterday so I couldn't get the candles lit in the real pumpkins. I did have them lit for a couple nights before Halloween.

  10. Lots of enthusiasm for Halloween at your house while at ours it was a total non-event except for a few monster films on tv. Looks like you went all out on the decorations which are really nice.

  12. I agree, your house looks amazing and we enjoyed the video! It's sure nice that the kids are polite. We actually quit giving out candy because the kids were so nasty and rude.

  20. Your village is a very pawsome place to live, and we are glad you helped out with your 'spirits' and Rachel aka Miss Persephone Darkbird scary witch! What a lot of work, though...you are industrious!! I think the efforts you did, made the day/evening for your 'guests'!

  22. I meant to say also that it's nice that all of your decorations were original in creative. Mostly what I see or just the Big Box store blow up things. And while they're cute at first they just repeat from yard to yard.

  23. You have some wonderful young people there. The ones around here could learn a lot from them. Many people had their whole bucket of candy, not just the candy, removed from their porches.

Your festivity looks awesome - we loved all of it!!!

  24. What a great way to celebrate, and i think that was the Time Warp i heard in the background. It's always fun to do the Time Warp.

  25. I LOVE the big ghost! Those kids are so different from those around here who were going around stealing bowls of candy that people left out so the kids didn't have to ring the bell.
