This is the funnest day of the YEAR!!!!
We love Dr Seuss! So, we thought we would tell you about one of our days in Dr Seuss!
In a house full of bustle, with a fridge full of treats, lived three clever cats and a dog with quick feets. Their tummies were rumbling, their eyes full of greed, They dreamed of the fridge, with its bounty to feed.

There was Marvelous the wise, who could think up a plan, And Jo Jo, full of mischief, who'd jump and she'd land. Then came Kozmo, ever nimble, and swift in his way, And lastly, dear Nutcase, with a tail that would sway.
One bright sunny morning, the fridge stood so tall, With a click and a clack, and no kitty-sized call. They sat in a circle and hatched a grand scheme, To open the fridge and dive into their dream.
"First, we need stealth," whispered Marv so sly, "For the door is quite heavy, and the handle so high." Kozmo raised his paw, "I can climb, that's my knack, I'll leap to the top and unlatch it with tact."
Jo Jo purred, "I'll distract the humans with grace, While you three work wonders at a swift, steady pace." And Nutmeg, excited, she wagged with a cheer, "We'll feast like true champions, and she barked out a cheer!"
With Jo Jo in the lead, she twirled through the air, And Mom was distracted...she paid no mind to their dare. Kozmo scaled the counter with speed in his stride, While Marv and Nutcase kept watch from their hide.
Up, up Kozmo climbed, to the fridge handle high, With a swipe and a nudge, he gave it a try. It wiggled, it jiggled, then opened a crack, The fridge door now ajar, but no way to turn back.
Nutmeg bounded with glee, the door pushed so wide, The fridge's cold treasures now spilled out inside. Marv, with wisdom, selected a fish, While Jo Jo nabbed some cream, fulfilling her wish.
Kozmo found some chicken, and Nutcase a bone, Their feast was now certain, their victory known. They munched and they crunched, in the cool fridge's glow, Their tummies now full, and their spirits aglow.
But then came a clatter, a rustle, a boom, The Peep had noticed, and rushed to the room. "Who opened the fridge?" She exclaimed with surprise, But found only pets with most innocent eyes.
The cats and the dog, with full bellies and pride, Had pulled off a caper with fun by their side. And though they'd been caught in their mischievous spree, They knew they'd remember this grand victory.
For in that small house, with its fridge full of cheer, Three cats and a dog, they'd made memories dear. Their adventure was over, but still they'd recall, Their journey together, the best of them all.
Bravo! That is a great story.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun story! Did you really pull it off?
ReplyDeleteI once saw a comic strip where a two-year-old girl and the six-month-old kitten were plotting together in front of the fridge (kids that young still speak to animals, you know) and the kitten said, "Maybe we can sneak up behind it and scare it open!"
What an adventure! What a wonderful and fun Seussian story, sweet pals. XO
