Mom had a Cats-astrophic Event!

 Yep! Right here!

Way out here in the middle of nowhere!

Yes our Peep is a total geek. Way-back, about 3years ago, before she started doing the badges for the Cats Blogosphere, and AI took over the interwebs, our Peep was experimenting doing Computer Art, using software tools, like Photoshop.

She got really good at it and was contemplating starting to do pet pawtraits THEN AI APPEARED! AI was doing in 5 minutes what used to take Mom a couple of days to create and anybody could do it! And then Mom got approached to do some grant writing for the local senior centre and she quit doing the art.

Mom got a new Windows 11 computer and installed all her old software on it and the old Windows 10 machine became her back up. Mom's old copy of Photoshop 5.5 did not run as well in Windows 11 and a bunch of functions quit working, but Mom did not need them anymore. Mom started doing the badges and she used Photoshop to make the badges. Fast forward to the beginning of summer...Photoshop died on her regular laptop.

Mom KNEW she was going to have to change (eventually) and has a new software, but she can do things FAST in Photoshop. Her brain muscle does not even have to think about where the functions are! T=he new software... has things in different places and it takes time to find them!

That has meant that the old laptop is now out and being used (so that you can get your badges!)

Mom's old laptop is great! ALL the Photoshop functions are there but the laptop had been upgraded to 11 and it is running way too slow. The Hard Disk is FULL of a zillion images and the bits and pieces that need to be run to create the cool art effects in Photoshop. And they need to get MOVED to make space.

Sooo, today, Mom figured she would take the time to move all the art files from the old laptop to her backup hard disk. And we found some gold!

Here are some wonderful Computer Art (Mosty using watercolor effects) of our good Buddy Beau!

We hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

  1. I believe in hanging on to any images you have (even blurry old photos) because they are still a treasured image of someone loved. In this day of digital photography you can delete any pic that isn't perfect immediately -but why ? The SD card in your camera or phone can hold thousands of images - one slightly blurry one is not going to take up that much space and may someday be a memory, even if it is imperfect. Good for your Mom for making the extra effort to recover all her creative work !.

  2. It's no fun trying to learn new software. We have the monthly subscription to Photoshop and love using it and Lightroom.

  7. Our #1 tends to hang on to everything too... Her current photo library is so large that it is on an external disk. Oh, and software updates can be so annoying.MS decided to throw out our old version of word (without asking us) and replace it with the new version which doesn't run on our computer. Hello, LibreOffice!

  9. Even folks who are computer savvy break out into a cold sweat when it's time to make upgrades, or buy new, so we feel ya!
    Lovely artwork.

  11. Java Bean: "Ayyy, it's like digging up a buried treasure! Like that time we found an ancient stuffie out in the yard that used to belong to Tucker, Trixie, and Dennis, and was in good enough shape for us to still play with it! Although eventually Dada took it away from us, washed it, and put it in a safe place, for some reason ..."
