May 8, National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day

Its Hot, Hot Hot here and we only got 48% of the regular snow pack this winter. Today we were going to write about getting Go Bags ready and the things that will go in the garage so Mom and us can take off quickly if there are any forst fires this summer.

This is the email we got, "Emergency preparedness in BC requires creating a household plan, building a 3-7 day survival kit, and preparing a grab-and-go bag for evacuations, with a focus on risks like wildfires, floods, and earthquakes. Utilize PreparedBC for guides, and follow official alerts."

Here is PreparedBC's Web page. Click on this link to access it and see more information.

  2. All of this info is great to know and we hope you never have to put your bags to use because of a devastating forest fire!

  3. Marv, we are sorry about the heat already and the dryness. Here we are still having bitter cold wind out of the North and temperatures are 20° below normal. Precious doesn't go out on the patio in the mornings very much in the dark because it's too cold. And I have to bundle up like an Eskimo to walk. But we are prepared for emergencies here. Our worst thing would be a tornado of course. And then you never know if a fire might happen even though we don't live in forest fire territory. Thanks for the heads up and you all be safe.

So important! In OZ, of course, we had similar arrangements... but here in the UK, folk need to improve their 'survival' skills, mainly for floods and wind storms. Be safe you lot! Hugswagswhiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. All three cat carriers are in place and ready; paperwork in a prominent place to grab right next to my laptop.
    Good info here, thanks.

  6. Charlee: "We are glad to see a day dedicated to preparing us animals for disasters! We know how it goes, we ran away from a wildfire with Mama and Dada and Dennis once!"

  9. My paws are crossed that you never have to use your go bags but it's always good to have a plan.
