  3. It has been a scorcher of a summer. And this is just the start with many months left to go. Stay safe and please don't have any fires in your area.

  4. We're super hot here and while there aren't any fires near us we are getting the smoke from some of the wild fires burning in Canada.

An important reminder... there have been some devastating fires over this side of the 'pond' and it's very sad when we hear of deaths, both four and two leggers... hugswagswhiskeries YAM-aunty xxx

  6. Fire is my biggest concern. I check every night before going to bed that the stove is off as well as all the wax melters that my wife likes so much.

  11. Fires are SCARY! Years ago, our neighbour's barn caught fire, it was so hot it melted 6 sections of our newly installed fence. And then the embers got blown into our woods area, and we lost 12 trees. The firemen came into our yard after they got the barn fire under control, and wet all the remaining trees, and our shed to prevent more fires. So we sort of had our own mini wildfire that day.
Right now we have heavy smoke - it's like a stinky mist - and the air quality is bad, and it STINKS! Smoke from Canadian wildfires and some in the USA. A good rain would be very helpful, and more rain on those fires would give all the firefighters a boost.

  12. Lulu: "The basement is a good place to be when it's hot! When our Dada was back East during the heat wave, he says the cellar at his parents' was a good 20 degrees cooler than upstairs. He probably would've hung out down there if it was set up for hanging out instead of for storage and laundry!"
